Toots and the Maytals are one of the best known Ska and Rocksteady groups of all time. Formed in the early 1960’s The Maytals were key figures in popularising Reggae. Front man Toots Hibbert who died in 2020 is considered a Reggae pioneer on a par with Bob Marley and Peter Tosh. His soulful vocal style has been compared to that of Otis Reading. Rolling Stone magazine named him one of the top 100 male singers of all time. Their 1968 hit do the Reggay was the first record to use the word Reggae. Coining the name of the genre and introducing it to an international audience. This Is Toots and the Maytals’ third album from 1968 originally released on Beverley’s records in 1968. Only ever re-issued on vinyl once in 2018. Copies of the re issue change hands for hundreds of pounds making this a very desirable release.
